Brief History of St. Peter’s Church
St. Peter’s Church of Coupland was organized in 1894 by German Swiss immigrants. The sanctuary was built in 1905-1906. The meeting hall was added in 1925 and the two structures were connected in 1953. By 1955, English language services, which were introduced in 1929, had replaced the worship originally conducted in German. The church has been serviced by 10 pastors (one serving twice) in its 112 years. In recent years, the building has been air conditioned and the facility made handicapped accessible. The church was building completely renovated for its 100th anniversary in 2006.
